MOORESVILLE – A Mooresville man is still being held after being arrested on Thursday for child sex charges. Jason Powers, 43, was picked up by the Iredell County Sherriff’s Office on a charge of child rape by and adult offender. DSS contacted the Special Victims Unit after a 13 year old girl told her mother she had been assaulted by the man.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, after taking a statement from the victim they conducted an interview with Powers. Following the interview on Tuesday, three felony warrants for rape of a child were issued.
Officers executed the warrants at Powers’ home on Tuesday but were unable to locate the him. Some gathered information led the officers to a construction site where Powers was located on Thursday and arrested without incident.
Powers is being held in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond.
