GASTONIA, N.C. – A fight over cheating accusations ended with a Gastonia man being arrested on reckless driving and gun charges.
Police say Hoyt Edward Thorn, 33, got into a fight with two men, one of whom was his nephew, over alleged cheating. According to arrest reports, the two men sent text messages to Thorn accusing him of cheating on his girlfriend with another woman.
Police say that when the two men came to Thorn’s home, they wouldn’t leave when asked, so Thorn fired a round to scare them away. Thorn is accused of then chasing after the men in his car and rear-ending their car on Woodleaf Drive at Chapel Grove Road, according to arrest records.
Thorn was charged with reckless driving and discharging a firearm in the city. He was booked into the Gaston County Detention Center and held on a $2500 bond.
