Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have charged 17 year old A.J. McMullen with murder in the shooting death of Harding High athlete Travis Davis. McMullen was arrested today and police are expected to release more information soon.
It was not immediately clear whether McMullen is a student or whether he knew Davis. I checked McMullen’s record and saw that he was arrested on February 22, 2006 on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, driving without a license and hit and run.
Davis, a football player and wrestler at Harding, was killed Sunday night as he waited for a bus in west Charlotte. Police had said he might have been shot during a robbery attempt.
