2 Charged After Reporting Stabbing

CIC Default Police Line TapePolice charged two people who had reported a stabbing on Friday morning.

Police received a call about a robbery about 8:30 a.m. at North Belmont Park.

Austin Scott Braswell, 19, and Jessica Lucille Flowers, 18 were found in a car parked at the 4700 block of Hickory Grove Road, which is a few blocks from the park. Braswell had a stab wound to his back.

Police said both claimed an unknown man robbed them but that their stories didn’t line up.

Braswell was taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center and Flowers was taken in by officers for questioning.

Crime scene investigators found a knife close to the entrance of the park. A man walking on the track inside the park said he had seen part of the incident, police said.

The man said he saw Flowers and Braswell pull their car up, get out, and that they began arguing. The man didn’t seen the actual stabbing happen, Sgt. C.B. Lowrance with Gaston County Police said.

Police charged both Braswell and Flowers with filing a false police report after reviewing the case details.
