Two students in east Charlotte were hit and injured by the trailer of truck at Eastway Drive and Sugar Creek Road on Monday morning.

According to police, about 7 a.m. the students ran across the street while oncoming traffic had a green light. They were hit by a white truck’s trailer.

Police said the students, who attend Garinger High School, saw the truck when they ran across but not the trailer. They were either headed to or from the school.

The teens were taken to the hospital and had non-life-threatening injuries, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools officials said

The driver of the truck is not being charged.

Names and details on the injuries have not been released.
