2 Men Shot Dead In Gaston County, Arrest Made

GASTONIA, N.C. – A double fatal shooting happened on the southeast side of Gastonia near the Piedmont Community Charter School’s secondary campus on Titman Road.

The shooting happened around 7 Friday night.

Police say 18-year-old Michael Tyler Walters has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder.  He lived at the house on Titman Road where the shooting took place

The two men who died are 23-year-old Michael Anthony Rice of Gastonia and 23-year-old Jerry Lenneil Richardson of Kings Mountain.  Both men were shot multiple times.

double-shootingA passerby was headed down the street when he saw a car partially in the roadway.  He thought it was a traffic accident but when he got closer he saw the two men inside.

Michael Tyler Walters, who turned 18 on May 8, faces two counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of the two men.  He’s being held in the Gaston County Jail with no bond.  His first court appearance scheduled for Monday.
