A man was stabbed to death in Uptown Charlotte early this morning in the 100 block of 10th Street at north Tryon near the Hal Marshal building. The stabbing victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police said the victim was male, but had not yet released the I.D. of the victim.
Police only have a vague suspect description to work with and will release more information as it becomes available.

I lived in the Rennaisance Place building for 5 years. During that time, I witnessed a dramatic decline. Drug dealers and their zombies have taken over that entire block of Uptown. I always wondered why the "uptown crowd" hadn't seen to it something was done about the blatent crime problems in that area.
It seemed everything north of 9th Street was all but ignored by police and/or city leaders. It was common for me to look off my balcony that faced 10th Street and see drug deals being done, women prostituting themselves and the actual smoking of the crack in the shadows. I called police each time I saw anything and never really saw anything of consequence happen to the perpetrators.
I would walk down into the lobby of the building to check my mail and often found drug runners counting out their stash in the vending room. I would find spent bullet casings around the property all the time. I carried a pistol each and everytime I left my apartment to go to the mailboxes, lobby or laundry room. It was/is a slum.
This murder will probably turn out to be just another violent crime that gets swept under the "world class rug" in order to keep from tarnishing our beloved cash cow that is Uptown.
Love your site and keep up the good fight.
According to WCNC 6pm news, the stabbing was as a result of a fight over a crack pipe.
