Holly M. Mitchell, a 17-year old Charlotte-Mecklenburg student was arrested on Friday night for bringing an MK-16 assault rifle to a football game. Police arrested the teenager after finding the rifle in the parking lot of West Mecklenburg High School on Tuckaseegee Road.The incident occurred right after the football game between West Mecklenburg and Phillip O'Berry High Schools. Mitchell was arrested and taken down to police headquarters for questioning. He is now charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds and carrying a concealed weapon. 5 people were detained as police searched the parking lot and a nearby vehicle. Mitchell was the only person arrested.
Holly Mitchell is no stranger to the criminal justice system in Charlotte. This is Mitchell's 5th arrest since June of 2005. Here are the details: On June 16, 2005, Mitchell was arrested for breaking into a coin/currency machine. Two months later on August 6, 2005, he was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon (gun) and possession with the intent to sell/distribute cocaine. On November 8, 2005, Mitchell was arrested for indecent exposure and communicating threats. 14 days later on November 22, 2005, he was arrested for larceny of a motor vehicle. Is it a surprise to anyone that Holly Mitchell would bring a gun to a school?

Amen !! And you have to ask the question, Where did he get a rifle that even I can't afford? These firearms are very expensive in the range of $1000.00 and UP. either he stole it from someone or one of his THUG friends did OR a family member left it unsecured!! In any case the reason these THUGS keep getting off with no punishment is that they are plea bargaining away the gun charges ( which by the way are very serious ) and should have kept this THUG in the slammer the first time he was charged with it. We have two sets of rules around here and just let a law abiding citizen defend him or herself and shoot one of these turds during the commission of a crime and see how they get raked over the coals. As far as these so called crime statistics go I refer you to the quote " Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining " and as far as I am concerned when confronted by one of these thugs, I will not waste precious time calling 911. I refer you to the quote " I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6 " Citizens need to realize that a policeman will not magically appear when you need them the most. It is YOUR responsibility to survive. If you look like food , You will be EATEN !
These District Attorneys in Charlotte need a wake up call. Way too many of these guys under 19 are give a juvenile offender status, giving them and easy way to plea bargin and get very short or no jail time. The public needs to be heard, call your local politican and "harass" his/her butt into doing something.
And the Judges????? And don't tell me there is not enough jail space for these scumbags. I have a solution, take just 4 miles of the 700 mile fence we are going to build in Texan, Arizona, and California and build a pen for these animals and put them in it and let them rob, beat, and kill each other. No TV's, air conditioning, free legal help, hot meals, or play grounds. It's time Charlotte starts getting serious about crime and put these lowlifes away and protect the citizens of Charlotte against this type of crime.

How many more criminals in public school? A lot! You only know about the ones that are reported. It boils down to the fact that our schools have turned into a breeding ground for criminals because these types are not required to go to prison. They are allowed to come back to school and tell their tales of intrigue and romantic flight to their buddies who can see they are just fine. If these criminals were removed from society, it just might put enough fear back into some to keep them out of the lifestyle. Instead, they are put back into the classroom to become cultural heroes.
These plea agreements are between the DA and defense attorney, its the DA that allows this not the judge. The DA has the say on how they will handle each case, plea or trial.
Nonsense - no judge is required to accept what he considers to be a lame plea bargain. (S)He is the ultimate authority of anything and everything that goes down in that courtroom, including the passing out of the sentences. They have more pressure to allow "deals" when the prosecution gave it up to get information on a larger case, but this is purely a case of just not passing out any bargain just to avoid the trouble of trying the case. One look at this guy's record and you know he's trouble.
He should have had 5 years on the concealed gun and cocaine with intent charges. What's more, the courts, police, and CMS are sending this thug back to school with our kids.
Where did he get the $1000 rifle? You can bet that it's either stolen or bought with drug proceeds. Read what else he has been arrested for.

What they need to do is send these juvenile offenders and people who want to kill, rob and everything else but be an upstanding citizen to war to fight for this country...That will eliminate the overcrowding of the jails....Let them take their anger out on these terrorist who trying to kill our people...Let's see how that will work out...

I am sick and tired of this weak excuse...they're thugs...put them in jail..put their parents in jail. They are a threat to society! If local officials...the D.A., CMS, etc. won't take control of these thugs, the citizenry must!

CMS Schools in some areas appear to equal Bagdad. This problem will not be addressed by the majority on the School board or the Boards of the City and County. The only way I can see reform taking place is to begin this November 7 and do not vote for the current incumbent in any election. It will require at least 6 years to begin the corrections required.
i seriously think all of you are missin the point.... he is trying to get in jail, so he can have more sex with men without peer judgement or ridicule because that would be the only reason why someone would want to continue to keep gettin in trouble; and now he has shown that he really does not like women if he is beating on them to end up in jail again. that must be some great off the chain sex... these kids, this judicial system and esp. the lack of control parents are unbelievable. And Baghdad is where these Bad Asses should be dropped off as soon as they get arrested especially after the third time, its crazy out here. One day Holly Farms is gonna enter the wrong chicken coop and justice will be done...
