UPDATE: 3-25-07 Bethany McSwain was found on the campus of UNC-Charlotte. UNCC Police located McSwain and notified CMPD. Police say her mother has been contacted and she will take custody of her daughter. McSwain was found with an 18-year old named Lauren Hilderth, who is not a UNCC student. Hilderth was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Police are still investigating.
Last night, police arrested 39-year old Matthew Ray Bolick. He is charged with three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and four counts of giving/selling alcohol.Bolick is the head of security at a downtown club called 'Forum.' He was arrested after he allowed minors to drink inside the club, knowing they were underage. In addition, police say he took three teen girls to his home and gave them drinks.
One of the girls, 15-year old Bethany McSwain, posted photos of herself on her MySpace page drinking at the club. He mother saw the photos and contacted police. On Wednesday, police went to the club and arrested McSwain and two other teenage girls for drinking underage. The girls are ages 14, 15 & 16.
Two days after her arrest, Bethany McSwain disappeared. Police believe she left on her own, however, she is considered missing. If you have any information on the whereabouts of Bethany McSwain, please call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here: Matt Bolick is not an abusive predator. He simply failed to draw a professional line between business and pleasure, a common mistake in the nightclub business. The girls he dates are not ignorant children, they all know exactly what they're getting into!

Another of her drinking and smoking, described as "The way I live". Looks like this behavior has been going on for a while. Where were the parents?

I would expect nothing less from the veritable toilet meat market embarrassment for a nightclub, the forum. it's nothing but trash and of course attracts mostly trash - these sad girls who need to find their validity through dancing to cheesy top 40 music and getting wasted on long island ice teas (see the book Female Chauvinist Pigs: Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture by Ariel Levy). maybe the only thing worse is that there are people like Matt Bollock who readily give them that validity. All predictable from the outside. However, teens in trouble often manage to really play Daddy's little princess quite nicely. Teens just like her have been doing it since they were infants, have it down pat, and act all insulted when you call them on it. Half of them believe their own sh*t, and the others have learned that unwaivering denials will eventually get them exhonerated.
It's also a more than a bit hard for parents to come to the realization that the little girl they held on their laps and read to only a few years ago has sunk this low. The parents certainly were out of touch with this kid, but even well-intended parents can be fooled by someone they love just as adults can also be fooled by those they are married to. Lots of people have failed here and her friends are just as much at fault as she is. They knew what she is into, yet out of supposed friendship, they lied and covered for her as well. Now they have to face the fact that their friend has gone missing.
As far as the guy is concerned, lock him up. A picture might get you confused whether someone is 15 or 21. But the minute she opens her mouth, it is evident. She's not even a very good liar. Stating that she is 21, yet she lists her HS as Providence from 2005-2007. If he still insists he didn't know, then jail him for being felony stupid.
Bethany if you read this, take it from someone that had lots of screw ups and even more excuses and denials. Whether your parents buy your load of sh*t and your friends tell you your sh*t doesn't stink, it does. Your parents are only upset because they love you. The forum never got "Raided" as the news said. You do not perform a raid on a club with one or two police officers. And public record shows that Matthew was not charged with pedophile or statutory rape charges, so dont jump the gun. You are quick to crucify someone without having all the facts. Matthew got charged with giving alcohol to an underage person which is a misdemeanor and this is public record, so check it out if you do not believe me. Also, they did not drink in the club. Forum is not the big bad wolf and the facts show nothing about Matthew being a pedophile. Get over it and wake up. Also, the facts state that he gave them alcohol at his house. Again there is no proof of this, all we have is what someone said. As for the mother in this case, she claims her daughter was "missing." Her daughter ran away from home, that is not "missing." Look. Anybody who actually know Matt knows that this guy is into underage girls. If you know him, then you know this is not the first time he has run into trouble with underage girls. Your defending him, so you probably know him or are him. He may be a great guy. He may be the greatest DJ in all of Charlotte. But that does not do anything to change the fact that he had the girls, ages 14,15 and 16 at his apartment. Lets say they didn't drink. What the hell was he doing with 3 girls that young? You say they didn't drink at the club. If your not Matt, then how do you know this for a fact. Are we to believe you more than the media? Look, Matt likes his girls young. Some of them very young. So with your logic mr./ms. 10:06pm, anyone who wants to analyze a case and have all the correct facts before making a decision, cannot do so unless he is actually defending the perpetrator or they are the perpetrator themselves or are best friends with the perpetrator? Now that is exactly what is wrong with the world. Back to the subject, I dont know his past or if he's into young girls and again that is speculation on your part. Also, that has nothing to do with the case at hand. If he molested these young girls, how come the police didn't charge him with any of that? The record does not show this. And based on the facts, I know that the girls did not drink at the club because it was only Matt who got arrested and no one else. Apparently no bartender got busted for serving underage girls in the place. And as i recall he was in charge of security, not bartending. Also, the Forum would get fined if one of their bartenders served someone underage and of course that would be public record as well. The record doesn't show any such fine.
Its been over a week, why hasn't her parents pressed charges against anyone else......
Just to let everyone know...this pedophile was put on permanent suspension by the owners of this company then immediately rehired as a DJ at the Alley Cat next door.... which is owned by same people.
