Charlotte-Mecklenburg School officials say they found an unloaded gun today on the campus of Ranson Middle School. School resource officers recovered the hidden weapon underneath a classroom trailer after a student informed them about the gun.Two 8th grade students were involved in the incident. The student who brought the gun to school was arrested by police and school officials say the second student will be disciplined for his involvement.
Officials would not say what punishment either student would receive or if they would be suspended from school. Based on previous CMS 'gun in school' incidents, both students will be back in the classroom within a month.

The amount of students who commit assaults and carry weapons, and regain entry right back into the school is deplorable. I have lost faith in CharMeck and was SHOCKED when I learned not only do these thugs get back into school, but sit among all the law-abiding kids. What happened to discipline and accountability?? Not just from these law-breaking so-called kids, but from our school board and leaders?? Are they out of their minds??? What lesson are they teaching them?? Breaking the law has no consequence?? And do you expect parents to just sit back and allow our childen to be subjected to this risk AND have the privledge to pay taxes for taking that risk? I'm sick to my stomach thinking about this crack-pot approach we have put up with for so long.......
