Yesterday afternoon, two people were shot at the uptown CATS transit center. Police say one man was shot in the groin and Medic transported him to the hospital. A second victim was grazed by a bullet but they did not sustain any injuries.Last night, police arrested 21-year old Bobby Rochelle Hudson (R)and charged him with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill. He is in the Mecklenburg County jail under a $150,000 bond.

It just goes to show that with animals like this on the prowl there is no reason to ever go uptown in Charlotte after dark. Even with all the extra police presence for Speed Street, human garbage still manages to stink up the place. Smart people avoid the 4th of July fireworks as well - that is, unless you enjoy rock throwing, gun shots and gang violence. History will surely repeat itself again this year.
The dirty little secret about Uptown is that it gets very unsafe later at night, and this shooting happened in the afternoon!
BTW...The Transit Center seems to be a Thug Magnet.
That's because Charlotte thugs rely on the public transportation we subsidize to cause the most trouble. If they were forced to walk there would be far less crime.
He was arrested in Nov. for possession of mj and assault on a female. Probably never even saw a courtroom.

Well, they'll have a train soon, so they'll come to your nice surburan neighborhoods too.
What do you do? Most of us need public transportation to get to and from destinations. Unfortunately, we have thugs like Hudson and company. Examples really do need to be made out of these thugs instead of slaps on the wrists because they know the system inside and out.
Charlotte built the train through one of the WORST parts of the city. It's a de-militarized replete with thugs like Hudson. If I'm going downtwon, I'd rather burn the gas regardless of the cost. It's a lot better than wondering if my car will still be there when I return. A small persentage of poorly raised, ill-mannered, ill-tempered, out-of-control animals who have done nothing to educate themselves and insure their futures have forced us to lock our door and stay home at night.
Don't blame the schools, don't blame the courts - this behavior starts at home! Stupid parents are making stupid kids and they are being raised to be parasites! Do you realize it's much harder to get a driver license than it is to give birth to a Hudson? Maybe it's time to require pregnancy permits which can only be obtained after passing a minimum proficiency test. (before anyone blasts me on that comment - I'm being sarcastic!)
ANON 0946 SAYS- A small persentage of poorly raised, ill-mannered, ill-tempered, out-of-control animals who have done nothing to educate themselves and insure their futures have forced us to lock our door and stay home at night. WE COULD ONLY WISH IT WERE A SMALL PERCENTAGE! :)
LOL - I was trying to be polite without offending nearly a third of Charlotte's residents. I promise take a lesson from Sheriff Jim Pendergraph and to be more accurate in the future.
Lets wake up folks. Charlotte is growing FAST. With the growth comes problems.
And..if you don't lie lite rail, MOVE TO ALABAMA.
The only thing growth has caused is that it provides a larger herd for predators like Hudson to prey upon. Other areas of the country are also experiencing tremendous growth without consistently being named in the top 10 Most Dangerous Cities every year.
The vast majority of us who have moved here in the last 20 years came because of our jobs. I doubt that anyone is coming to Charlotte for opportunities in Armed Robbery.
Do you think the Hidden Valley Kings offer a relocation package? It's highly unlikely. Those gems were homegrown right here in Charlotte and not a result of growth.
Accepting crime as a result of growth is just ignorant.
So, there's no Light Rail in Alabama? Maybe I will move there. They must be smart enough to realize what a remarkable waste of money it is and a terrible burden on taxpayers.
First of all, The Hidden Valley Kings were not born and raised in Hidden Valley, Most of them were from up North. Most of the crimes committed in Charlotte are not by natives. Secondly, dishing out insults like "animals" is not going to solve the problem. How about raising minimum wage so that parents in low income areas can take better care of their children. Most of the mothers are working 2 and 3 jobs, so unfortunately they don't always know what their children are up to. If you've never been underpriveleged, you really don't understand the struggle of raising black boys who are influenced by the temptation of "easy" money. Thank you/
I have a job where I routinely go into these neighborhoods and homes. A very large portion of these have numerous people living in the same house, mother included who don't work at all (let alone 2 or 3 jobs). Large expensive cars sitting in the driveway and most everyone receiving some sort of financial aid. A dead give away that illegal activity is going on. When you make that much money I don't think minimum wage will be very appealing, raised or not.
Regarding comments made by anonymous 9:59 PM - You are correct, I do not "understand the struggle of raising black boys," however, I do recognize that maybe a women shouldn't have 2 or 3 children when if takes 2 or 3 jobs to make ends meet - especially when it means "they don't always know what their children are up to." So, because you deicde to have a pack of kids you can't afford, they get unleashed on the rest of us and we have to pay for your inability to control them.
And where's dad in all this? Maybe, just maybe, if these single mothers would finish high school before procreating, a lot of these kids wouldn't be choking the courts. Just a thought, but having an education, a savings account AND a husband before getting pregnant might be the smarter way to approach starting a family.
Finally, the temptation of "easy money" is certainly no excuse. If that was the case, we'd all be criminals. It's a matter of morality and decency. If you're raised to respect yourself and others you tend to stay out of handcuffs!
I wish people would stop trying to rationalize these issues. When these behaviors are commonplace and tolerated, they become perpetuated.
I'm not trying to rationalize the issues by no means, I agree that anyone commiting a crime should be in jail. I am just offended by the use of the word "animals".
And ever heard of a thing called divorce? You just assumed that all single black mothers never had a husband!! That's not true. Unfortunately it doesn't always work out.
Finally, You are certainly right that parents need to control their kids, but many mothers living in low income areas don't know what to do. The easy answer would be to say "don't have any kids" but the reality is that the kids are here and we need to educate those mothers on how to bring their boys up the right way. If the mother's don't know any better how can we expect the kids to know?
Im a single black mom, but I was fortunate enough to have parents who instilled values and morals in me. I have 2 black sons that are A honor roll students and stay out of trouble. Many black women don't have what I have.
animals= white, black, green
thugs= white, black, green
This isn't about race. Criminals come in all shapes and sizes. A thug is a thug. It doesn't matter what color they are.
It's interesting that a "single black mother" is the only one to associate the problem of "thugs" and "animals" in Charlotte as a racial issue.
She brought up a number of points - some valid, others ridiculous. No one here ever wrote that they assume all single black mothers "never had a husband." A previous post simply asked, "where's dad?" It's a valid question. The truth is, that over 70% of black children are born out of wedlock. (http://www.pbs.org/wnet/religionandethics/week911/special.html) It's a frightening statistic and it is a crisis!!!
Single mothers are not equipped to teach a boy how to be a man! I know all the single mothers are pulling their hair out right now but they need to face the facts - they are not men and they don't know how to be a man so how can they teach someone to be a man?
We all set examples for children, whether we want to or not. Having children out of wedlock is a learned behavior just like learning to chew with your mouth closed is.
Finally, just because a single mother, at one time, had a husband in no way means they are not part of the problem. Children of divorce suffer from a plethera of issues. From the US Government, here are just a few obstacles children of divorce face:
Children whose parents have divorced are increasingly the victims of abuse and neglect. They exhibit more health, behavioral, and emotional problems, are involved more frequently in crime and drug abuse, and have higher suicide rates.
Children of divorced parents more frequently demonstrate a diminished learning capacity, performing more poorly than their peers from intact two-parent families in reading, spelling, and math. They have higher dropout rates and lower rates of college graduation.
Divorce generally reduces the income of the child's primary household and seriously diminishes the potential of every household member to accumulate wealth. For families that were not poor before the divorce, the drop in income can be as much as 50 percent.
Religious worship, which has been linked to health and happiness as well as longer marriages and better family life, is less prevalent in divorced families.
The effects of divorce are immense. The research shows that it permanently weakens the relationship between a child and his parents and leads to destructive ways of handling conflict and a poorer self-image. Children of divorce demonstrate an earlier loss of virginity, more cohabitation, higher expectations of divorce, higher divorce rates later in life, and less desire to have children. These effects on future family life perpetuate the downward spiral of family breakdown.
So, I ask you, did this guy Hudson come from a nice, stable, 2-parent household with a strong fatherly role model? Or were Puff Daddy, Eminem and Snoop Dog the role models he had.
It's a rhetorical question, you don't need to think it over . . .
I would like to respond to Peejay's comments. I feel as if some of your statements are ridiculous as well.
As far as your comment about single mothers cant raise boys to men, thats crazy!! I am not a man,but I know what a man should be,and what a man should do!! I can raise my son to be the type of man that society is in desperate need of.
As far as having kids out of wedlock being a learned behavior, wrong again. My kids were born out of wedlock but my parents are still happily married to this day!! I was not taught that I was just hard headed.
My kids go to church, make good grades, recieve good merit awards in school, leadership awards, and my oldest is a volunteer tutor!!
Every situation is unique!! You don't know how any one was raised just by what you read on this blog!!
If you can't put the time in to raising them properly, then don't have them.
