5 COMMENTS:
How about parents enforce the curfew and the police pay attention to the real criminals? There's a lot more violent offenders over 16 than under.
To Benmarvin:
And most of those violent offenders over 16 started when they were under 16 many times committing crimes while violating the curfew ordinance. How many 14 year olds are stealing cars? Involved in gang related activity? Armed robberies? A WHOLE heck of a lot and the numbers increase. The problem is parents DON'T enforce the curfew. They don't even know, care, or believe what their kids are doing when mommy isn't looking. So why not start making the parents responsible? It's about time parents be held accountable for their kids. After all if a parent isn't responsible for keeping track of the kid, then who is? Oh, I forgot, that's the city's responsibility. We don't raise our own kids anymore. We expect government to do that for us. So why should we be to blame for our own kids running around at 12am robbing pizza delivery guys? We didn't actually give them the gun and teach them to rob someone..... But apparently we didn't teach them not to either.
I'd also be willing to bet that the parents of the kids found in violation of the curfew probably aren't too much above curfew age themselves. I think alot of our problems lie in the fact that we have teenagers having babies. To use a phrase its like the blind leading blind. Only in this case its ignorance breeding ignorance.
Hey Benmarvin get a clue.
All of the killas start as wannabees at age 12, 13 14.
Its not only the killers its these young children who think everything is funny. We have a group of kids around 12-13 in the neighborhood who run wild and do whatever they want it seems. Well, my car has been painted, windshield wipers ripped apart, trash dumped on my porch.
Bottom line.. they're to young to understand consequences or working for money to pay for a car.
