Carolina Panthers Guard Found Guilty
On Tuesday, Carolina Panthers' guard Jeremy Bridges was found guilty of misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun.
Bridges was arrested on July 26th after a dancer accused him of pointing a gun at her in the parking lot of a strip club. The incident occurred just one day prior to the start of training camp.
Bridges was sentenced to a 60-day suspended sentence and one year of unsupervised probation. In addition, Bridges was ordered to pay $500 fine and complete 60 hours of community service. The Panthers suspended Bridges for the first two regular season games.

I know of two 17 year old girls who were driving in their car, a man clearly suffering from road rage pulled up next to then and brandished a weapon. The girls found a police officer, described the man, his car and the weapon. Police found him, found the gun and arrested him. Hes walking around free on this very day. Charges pled down~not even probation but anger management type course! This system makes no sense. One guy gets punished while another gets away with it?
a 60 day suspended sentence and $500 is punishment? his community service will be at a recreation center with his homies.
As in the case of Winonna Ryder stars are sometimes prosecuted more harshly than the "average Joe"

Has anyone else noticed that over the years the number of Panther arrests is directly porportional to how poor their record is? If the Pavthers continue their pitiful on-fielded performance, we can expect several more arrests by spring.
And why is it you never hear of a Charlotte Checker being arrested?
...or a Bobcat, for that matter, right? Because I know you weren't suggesting that this may have something to do with his race, were you?

Ok, so Ray Caruth, Fred Lane, Jeremy Bridges and a host of other scumbags on the Panthers who were arrested have all been black, but I was merely pointing out that I've never heard of a hockey player pointing a gun at a stripper in a parking lot. Maybe hockey moms can teach the football moms a little bit about raising their kids to conduct themselves with proper civilized behavior.
As for the Panthers suspending Bridges for only 2 games - well, shame on them! Who needs an animal who doesn't know it's wrong to point guns at strippers (or anyone)around!!! Black, white or orange . . . a thug is a thug.
Or, we can chalk it up to listening to violent rap songs and forgive him. Let's just say it's society's fault and praise him for not actually pulling the trigger.
Oh, as for the Bobcats, you may want to look up the records of past and present coaches and players such as, Lonny Baxter (fired a gun 2 blocks away from the White House - not only is he dangerous, he's an absolute idiot,) assistant coach Phil Ford (don't ever accept a ride from this dude!,) and, if you ever have a need to score some drugs, look no further than Paul Mokeski (another guy you should never accept a ride from.) The Bobcats are still relatively new. Now, if you want to talk about the Hornets' arrest records, then we'll need to devote a whole page for that.
Maybe the hockey moms should hold seminars.
I love PeeJay! Youre absolutley correct in what you say. Unfortunately, Jesse Jackson & Al Sharpton~for all their brilliance~manage to corrupt the black population in believing every single issue is directly related to race in our country. The real issues continue to be swept under the rug. Never once do I hear anyone, minus Bill Cosby, stand up and take ownership for actions within the black community. No, not every single issue is race related~it becomes the boy who cried wolf. There are plenty of white scumbags but every black issue is due to race. Its time to take ownership.

I hate to talk about race, but with out a doubt it still exist. Whites do just as much dirt as blacks. The media just profile blacks more. Most black crimes involve guns. What I can't grasp is,Pro's get caught time and they get drugged like the killed the President. But these repeat offenders get off and strike over and over????????????? Come on. Something is wrong somewhere.
What I want to know is how big is that stripper? This guy looks fairly big himself (no neck) so apparently this guy felt threatened? Enough so that he had to pull a gun on a girl? That must be one scary stripper.
Ok,Peej, lets straighten this out. I have a Masters and am working on my Doctorate, so where you get off commenting on my capacity is beyond me. Furthermore, the impression came from the fact that hockey is a predominantly white sport. Now, no one accused you of anything, I simply asked a question. A simple yes or no would have been fine. And yes, we (I am assuming that 'limited capacity' refers to black people, because apparently race is not a factor for our Caucasian friends) do tend to reduce things to race, especially here in the south. If its a mystery to you as to why, you are more than welcome to set up a lunch date with me at any restaurant in the city and I'll give you a quick run-through.
and finally, lets look at some common sense here. The man is damn near seven feet tall, the average stripper is what, 5'7"? Maybe, just maybe, he's not guilty. I don't know, DNA has exonerated hundreds of people over the past few years. Of course, that does us no good, but it does get to the fact that sometimes juries (and judges, and magistrates, etc...) can be wrong. All I'm saying is that we humans shouldn't be so sure that we're right, because you just never know. Anyone remember Germany in the late 30's and early 40's? A whole nation of people who just KNEW they were right.

First - can somone translate what sick-n-tired wrote? Unfortunately, I have a thorough understanding of English and grammatic rules so whatever he/she wrote was totally lost on me. Did he/she say people who kill presidents get drugged? What kind of drugs do they get?
As for anonymous, getting a doctorate has nothing to do with understanding. I have multiple engineering degrees but that doesn't mean I can perform open heart surgery - even if I slept in a Holiday Inn. I'm not sure what your degrees are in but it's certainly not in deductive reasoning. From my experience, most people with college degrees need another 4 more years of school to reach the level of dumbass!
And, NO, "limited capacity" does NOT refoer to black people. That would be nonsensical considering the accomplishments of such notable Americans such as Clarence Thomas or Condeleezza Rice, just to name a couple. Between the two of us, you are the only one thinking in those terms. Just out of curiosity, from where does your paranoia stem? Have you been denied entry into college? Oh wait, your getting a doctorate - yeah, your struggling. My experience has been that post-graduate studies are very expensive.
Now, maybe you should bone up on your comprehensive skills. The article read "Found Guilty." Not maybe guilty, not probably guilty, but GUILTY. How can you begin to speculate on Mr. Bridges' innocence - or is everyone in the court system racist too? The same system that continues to release predators on our city every day. Of course it is. And OJ never killed Ron and Nicole and he's being railroaded in his current legal difficulties and Michel Vick was just trying to raise a few puppies.
For a moment, let me enlighten you on human nature. People thrive on thinking they know the absolute truth. Take for example religion. The notion of "We're right and the rest of you are all going to hell" is a fundemental tenet here in the south. Will you know compare yourself to Nazi Germany, or, can we put that arguement aside as just plainly idiotic?
Finally, just for the record, in case you overhear me say the New York Knicks suck it's not because the starting line is all black - rather it's because they lost by almost 50 points last night to the freakin' Boston Celtics!!!

I agree with peejay, mostly. I DO have a problem with the blacks. They make up a small percentage of the population, yet they are the largest percentage of people in prisons...and I DON'T think they're ALL "miscarriages of justice". I am sick of hearing about slavery. I am in my 30's. I've never OWNED a slave and I don't know any black person who's ever BEEN A SLAVE. Black people were sold to whites by their OWN people. Slavery still goes on in Africa today. If you want to go back...go back. If not...shut up!

Whites are afraid to speak their minds to blacks because you never know which ones are carrying illegal guns. Here in Charlotte, you can't even assume a middle-schooler is unarmed. Im white and fairly liberal on most accounts, its increasingly more obvious the arrests tip higher for the black population to white population. Granted, often we see black mixed with minority populations therefore, there may be a slightly higher number than actual black arrests. The fact is, there is more crime in black populated areas. How is that explained? Everything cant be attributed to race alone. White and black people are all given teh same educational opportunities. In fact, black areas are getting more attention regarding the educational system. In addition, minorities in general are given more leeway when applying to any school or even jobs today. There is a minority quota businesses must meet as well as education instituations. Given all these opportunities, we still see more violent arrests from the minority populations.
Yes, there are plenty of white crimes, violent too, but the heavier focus is minorities are filling up the jail systems as well as clogging the court system. Its more important to minorities to gain street cred than it is for whites. How can this be explained away? Education is available should anyone choose to use it and I know many minorities who do but that does not take away from those who choose not to use it to build a future outside of crime and the projects. Its proven that a certain lifestyle becomes generational and I do believe we see a large portion of that walking through our justice system. My question is when does it become a minority problem to take ownership of and correct so future generations came appreciate an education and building a future? Right now, plenty of white people cannot get jobs due to the race question in an application. There is not quota of white people to hire but businesses do have to meet a minority quota.
Stupid people come in all colors. We got a little off track on these posts, maybe next time you guys could just trade emails, and all of us wouldn't have to read the "race" issues, and the Godwin law.
