CMPD Officer Shoots Robbery Suspect
UPDATE: Police have identified the armed robber and shooting victim as 52-year old Bobby Airon Dinkins. Dinkins' arrest history in Charlotte-Mecklenburg goes back to 1992 on charges including burglary, robbery and felony breaking and entering.
Shortly after 7:30 pm, a CMPD Officer exchanged gunfire with a suspected armed robber in a shopping center parking lot on South Blvd. The suspect suffered serious injuries and the Officer suffered minor injuries.
Prior to the shooting, the suspect robbed two clerks at gunpoint inside a Dollar Tree store. An assistant manager told WCNC News that two clerks inside the store were tied up during the robbery, which happened right before closing. One clerk managed to call 911 on her cell phone while the robber was out of the room.
An Officer was across the street on another call and spotted the suspect running from the store. At some point, shots were fired and the suspect was hit. Police are not saying who fired shots or what led to the gunfire.

DAMN! I shop at the fabric store, next door, and sometimes I run in to that dollar store for gift bags. I'm not shocked. The parking lot has that criminal vibe to it, and I would never shop there at night... not that day light deters these monsters. Nice to hear that CMPD is knocking them down. Thankyou CMPD! Too bad it wasn't a head shot!

Really scary that the robber had tied up the employees, that usually leads to the employees getting a bullet to the head.
Glad to see the Police Officer stopped the robber for good.

Why is this not on the local news? Charlotte.com has no word of this? I would think this is more important then most of the crap stories they post.
What infuriates me is all of the medical care this piece of garbage is being given trying to save his pathetic and useless life. There are many GOOD, law abiding people who can get no medical care yet they do everything they can to save this garbage?
next time police officer please aim straight to the head... we beg you!!!

The Observer is too busy writing articles about the illegals working in chicken factories with messed up hands in attempt to garner sympathy and support for law breakers.
There's no time left to dedicate staff to writing about things like law abiding citizens who need help.
The Charlotte Observer is the communications arm of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce. AKA "Tidy Town."

It seem that there is alot of things to be said in a negative way about the black criminals but the white one's dont have as harsh comments about their crimes when that low life scum robbed 2 banks with the same clothing on an no one said he deserve to die or need to be shot in the head or anything else to the nature of death yeah i agree the problem need to be taken care of but there sure is racism in Charlotte North Carolina

I noticed how you conveniently ignored the fact that these two thugs have a LONG history of doing this kind of crap, but of course you look the other way and try to act like blacks are always victims. 2:04 Whenever some white criminal gets his just rewards rest assured we whites will be very pro victim in our comments. The glaring flaw with your statement lies in the fact that I haven't seen any white criminals being shot. You can't comment on what hasn't happened.
Either fewer whites are committing the types of crimes that get them shot, or they are smart enough to not get shot doing it. Either way your dog won't hunt !

I see it when I walk into work, I see it with the white ladies, clutching their purses in the elevator when a black man (in a suit, mind you) gets on the elevator.
The youth today is terrible. Too many daddy's not around to raise boys to be men and be responsible for their actions. Too many single mom's (whether they work or collect assistance) have other things on their minds and assume the streets will raise their kids. And that goes for white and black people. Don't get it twisted.

yes, on this site, there isn't many white people commiting crimes with guns. When a "person" commits a crime using a gun, they should get shot or at least get a few extra charges and not get a bail amount.

12:13pm...I am not an attorney, nor a prosecutor, nor a judge. So how is it "idiots like me" keeping them from being behind bars.
I pay my taxes and where do they go? Aren't they supposed to go to places like the judice system?
I bet the cops in this city are so angry when they arrest someone, putting their life at risk to arrest that person, then see that same person tomorrow hanging out on the same street corner. Doesn't that make you mad CMPD?! Why do they set bail amounts for some of these crimes?

Criminals come in all colors, yanno! I've read peoples comments on this site too. People are more harsh towards the people of color than the white people that commit crimes as well and it doesn't matter what type of crime is commited, like some of you try to argue that point.

I'm not a member of the ACLU, I don't think that you should let someone go that cries discrimination, but I do feel that it should be investigated. It could actually be a case of discrimination.
My neighbor - a black man who owns his own business has a car that is "done up" (tinted windows, rims, chrome everywhere). He said that ever since he put the rims on that car, he's been stopped 15 times (and he only got the rims at Christmas time for himself). 15 times....that's a little suspicious, don't you think.

With One in 15 black adults and one in nine black men between the ages of 20 and 34 in prison there is a reasonable expectation any black you meet could be prison bound.
Thats not racism thats just the facts. Even black cops will tell you that stereotyping is hogwash. After years of experience they see common "indicators" that show a higher incident of criminal activity. Just facts. Don't take my word for it , do some research.
You are also fabricating some points. I re-read the comments and failed to see any big difference in the comments between white and black bank robbers. Yes there were some harsh statements made about the idiots that got shot. They are black, you can't comment about what hasn't happened. Like I said earlier, when some white numbskull gets shot trying to commit a crime I'll be quick with a WELL DOME !!

If a white makes a comment its racism, but what if its a black ? I'd like how you can peer into your crystal ball and see what color the authors are. Seems to me you are guilty of your own charges.
