Tip Leads To Capture of CMPD's Most Wanted

One of CMPD's Most Wanted suspects was captured today thanks to a citizen who called the VCAT Tip line. Police say the VCAT and SWAT teams arrested David Lawon Cousart shortly after 1:00 pm inside a home on Downs Avenue.

Cousart was a prominently featured member of CMPD's Most Wanted list. Most recently, he was involved in a violent home robbery in Charlotte on March 13th. He held a family at gunpoint and shot a male inside the home.
David Cousart is 18-years old and he is already considered a HABITUAL repeat offender. Cousart's arrest record goes back to his early teens when he was still considered a 'juvenile.' Since his 16th birthday, CMPD has arrested him 15 times. Officers in Cabarrus County arrested Cousart on several occasions as well. (View DOC record)

Cousart is another prime example of a criminal who commits crime after crime and still walks the streets of Charlotte... Need I say more?

A useless p.o.s. who will end up killing someone if he is not locked up for a very long time.
Why can't our courts see that!!!!

As a CMPD officer who has had the unfortunate job of dealing with Mr. Cousart, I would like to suggest that everyone that reads this look at Mr. Cousart's record. Now, realize that he WILL be back out on the streets in no time at all. Suspended sentences, probation, blah blah blah. Also, while you are looking up Mr. Cousart, take a look at Gregory Tillery. He is a close friend of Mr. Cousart. You will see that he was recently arrested this month. Look closely and you will see the list of charges, (one of which being the ever popular "Larceny of Motor Vehicle (Felony)......etc). I will post the link to help you get started...

Believe me, we (the cops)are as fed up with crime as you (the citizen). To those out there that think that catching these guys is easy, you are sadly mistaken. It is easy to say "I would do this..and that..carry a gun.....shoot the thug...let him come to my house and see what happens...blah blah blah..." Sounds good, but it is easier said than done.

Being an officer in one of Charlotte's so called "Hot Spots" is quite interesting. It was a Hot Spot before I got there, and guess what, It will be a Hot Spot after I leave. What do we have to do to make it go away? Here is the answer: Tear down about 8 or nine apartment complexes, about four hotels and a bunch of convienience stores. Oh, and I almost forgot, we also have to tear down all the houses in a neighborhood, (probably about 300 in all). Then, when that is done, we need to build gigantic houses and gated communities, condo's, you know, high end stuff!!!! Easy fix right?

Next issue. So let's just say that last idea is a little unreasonable. Now we have a problem. Do we (the cops) put more focus in the Hot Spots, where robbery, break-ins, shootings, drugs, prostitutes etc. are an everyday occurance? Well, if we put more focus there, then what about the other neighborhoods that are not as bad? They have a string of break-ins here and there but they don't OFTEN make the news.

So, what is amazing about this city, mostly the news media, is what you SEE on TV. A few houses get broken into in a really nice neighborhood, and it is "STOP THE PRESSES" BREAKING NEWS>>>CHARLOTTE IS THE WORST CITY IN AMERICA< ITS THE CHIEFS FAULT>>STUPID ARENA>>>NASCAR>>>>and on and on......

How many of you realize that hispanics are getting robbed in record numbers? Where do these (mostly)occur? In the not so nice neighborhood. But, when a crime of that nature occurs in a nice neighborhood, it makes headlines.

Now, in closing (I hope)..I enjoy my job..I like catching the bad guy. I make crap for money, (paycheck to paycheck, and let me tell you, I am losing that war!!!) but that is okay....

Oh, last thing, I promise....Alot of people here say "It's the parent's fault" or something along those lines. Well, you a partially right. Alot of these parents do care, they really do care. (Of course, some don't)...but, when you are 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 years old, you know right from wrong, whether you parents were good or not. THEY choose to do what they do. Rarely does Momma say "Boy, go out and rob a store, don't forget your gun, and on your way back, shoot someone for me, make me proud!!!" Not saying the parents are void of blame, just not as much as we think.

Anyway, if you actually read through this whole thing I applaud you....I am sure it is filled with gramatical errors, but oh well....Thanks,

A lousy (but hard working) COP

It's me again, the long posting guy, disregard the link I posted, It got cut off. Either way, it's the Meck County jail site that ONCRIME posts the mug shots under, just search for Gregory Tillery. The more of these thugs that the public can reckognize the better.

I am on your side agree ten times over & am realizing that I am dealing with a thug in training & the courts won't listen to me. I have used both the kill him with kindness & tough Love, all I'm getting is he runs away,Now he is facing what I call serious charges that should, at least I wanted him to remain behind bars & go to school while there awaiting his court date.No go a Judge ordered him realeased to his parents ok. Go to Court, The Officers involved were there also, Thanks Guys Sorry it was continued, This is very cut & dry. His attorney explains to me his job is to represant Terry & what I have to say means nothing. What, He is SOOO guitly & admits to it.He doesn't need substance abuse essesment his punk butt needs to be one less thug in training out on the streets & in jail & school. Maybe the City Officals can turn the old Court House into a jail to have more beds to house these dirtbags. It shouldn't cost that much to overhaul.
I am waiting for an ADA to call me for a meeting, They said the will atleast listen to me & was caught off guard with my request him get back to jail. His name Terry Edward Robert Adams aka thug in training.

I applaud the cops on the beat. They have a job which the majority of us could ever handle.

I support the cops but don't trust their leadership nor the over arching policies mandated by state government (Ironically, I also support our troops on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan but have a vast mistrust of the generals and over arching policies of this administration)

It seems as though the police should somehow become more intimidating. This coupled with state/county/city's becoming more aggressive in prosecuting criminals would, I think, cause some of these savages to rethink their implulse to committ crimes.

A big Thank You to all CMPD officers

Now Alicia Keys is saying gangsta rap is a conspiracy from white people to make blacks kill each other. Is she crazy, its blacks killing whites. Beam me up. See Drudge Report for this story or google it.

to 4:00 PM: Sorry you feel this way about your son. This post sounds like you just want him out of your hair. No one will force your son to go to school at his age. Unless he's carjacking and robbing people (other than you) to run away, then it's just another kid showing out and they'll let you deal with that. Sorry, but when you decide to have kids you have to be prepared to pay the price. If you think he's a "dirtbag thug in training" as you say, well you only have a few more months until he's 18 and you can rid yourself of him or maybe he'll run away and not get caught next time.
