At tonight's city council meeting, members voted unanimously to spend $369,075 to fight property crime in Charlotte. The money will go towards the hiring of two new assistant district attorneys and three support personnel. The five member team will strictly go after habitual property crime offenders and make sure they are prosecuted to the fullest extend of the law.
WBTV reported tonight about a man named Wesley Patterson, who was arrested last month for the 89th time. Most all of his crimes are property related and he has served little jail time. Other similar examples include; Charles Hall, The Robinson's, Bridgett Nicole Evans, William Owens, Robert Morrison King and Robert Gregory Brown.
According to WBTV, the new initiative is designed to give repeat offenders more significant jail time rather than an unbroken pattern of arrest, release, and re-arrest. The goal of the initiative is to make sure every habitual offender who breaks into cars or homes is charged as a felon -- something that is not always the case right now. If convicted, the habitual repeat offenders will see longer jail time.

For those of you that dont know what it is like in Venezuela crimewise, this is what it is like except there, they dont arrest you....but in Charlotte, why even bother....the difference in Venezuela is that you can pay someone 50 to murder someone....so we arent there at this moment...but real close....Charlotte makes me sick, for years everyone crows about Charlotte being a world class city, and its sport teams. what a joke...it taxes homeowners for colisseums and then the teams spit in the face of Charlotteans...it's banks are failing...and 63 per cent of black males dont make it through high school...Im getting out...let Obama get in and see what happens; if I see another dreadlock Im going to puke my brains out
it is past time to address repeat offenders ! These punks are taking up all of the police time !!! I hope they throw the book at Cedric Gaston and Tony Williams. Two of Charlotte's most active repeat offenders ! Tony got a bullet in his spine in an attempted robbery. I wish he had been killed !!!
Failed Liberalism on display for all to see!!
Here is the fallacy that property crimes do not warrant attention from Criminal Justice.... look at what it has wrought ...89 arrests. What is lost in these statistics is each and every property crime the creep committed involved a property owner violated at great personal expense and when they contacted their government to help them solve the crime and serve justice upon this criminal, they were barely paid attention to. 89 arrests; I wonder what the ratio of arrests to the actual number of crimes this criminal committed, because usually the police never really investigate property crimes other than to take the report. 89 arrests...this guy should go to jail the next 1000 years if we were actually serious and imposed the sentence the statutes call for.
This is why we as a society should take property crime seriously, because it is crime, it hurts the victim, and unless addressed will continue unabated.
Your government is just starting to barely hear you, they are discovering you actually care about this stuff....but pay attention that they don't slack off because, philosophically, they disagree with you and believe property crime does not warrant jail, but rather we have failed the criminal as a society, THAT IS ACTUALLY WHAT OUR LEADERS THINK. THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED.
These beast committ property crimes because they have never been taught respect for themselves, their parents, society, authority, or anyone/anything else. They see something they want, they take it. Never mind the guy/gal that works 12 hours a day to try and make a life for themselves and their families. I had my car entered, my camera stolen, my cell phone stolen and my personal space (my driveway) violated. On my own, I secured a list of phone calls made immediately after my phone was stolen. They were local Charlotte numbers and I looked up who they were listed to and turned it over to the police. NOTHING was done, NOTHING. Next time, I will deal with my situation on my own. Wonder if I could wire some c-4 to my door and leave my GPS lying on the dashboard? Think that would do it?
10:03 I tried to tell that to someone else on CIC and all I got was insulted, but I agree completely with your post, well said!!!!
FAct is that Charlotte IS the Detroit/Gary Indiana of the South. Rampant crime, muder and assults against perfectly innocent people. Then the thugs are let out on bail or receive a suspended sentence. What a joke this place has become!! The uptown Liberal crowd got its way and now Charlotte is one more example of Liberal Government and the total failures that result from same.
This site has become a site for whining, complaining, and indignation venting. WHERE ARE ALL YOU PEOPLE WHEN IT'S TIME TO VOTE? Why in HELL do you all keep re-electing the same people representing you time after time, after time???? YOU let Easley get into office and kept him there! YOU let the professional sports supporters in and kept them there!! DO something about it!! Lots of people showed up at the anti-crime meeting uptown with our 'officials', but THOUSANDS need to take time from their day to SHOW UP demonstrating a massive show of citizenry to end this madness!! We need CNN and NATIONAL news publicizing whats going on here with a very embarassing headline for America to see, "THRONGS OF ANTI-CRIME CITIZENS IN CHARLOTTE DEMAND ACTION"....only THEN will our illustrious city and state officials be SHAMED into actually DOING something about it when they are embarrassed by the bad publicity. None of them want bad publicity or such embarassment. THIS would force them to contend with this situation, and it WOULD WORK!!!!

I agree with you. Has anyone noticed that CMPD has never been on the show, "COPS"? Does anyone know the real reason? They don't want CMPD on COPS because they don't want Charlotte to have a bad national image. I think if Charlotte's crime problem was nationally publicized, we would all get the Changes we are looking for.
The reason CMPD is not on COPS is because of the policies. The departments that are shown on COPS have a aggressive tactic when it comes to crime. CMPD is has to many hug a thug policies. Example they cannot chase the suspect. It would just be a show, showing the suspect giving the officer the finger and driving away, knowing that the officer cannot pursue him.
Most of the city council are nothing but a bunch of liberal wimps who probably have little poodles at home named Precious. FIGHTING CRIME IS ABHORRENT TO THEM , because they believe that crime is something that happens to those (other people who live somewhere else)
The idea of a well-publicized march to our officials with a massive show of unity is a good one. This site would be a great place to have a poll where we could see if there is support for this--- or we can just remain here doing what we have been doing-helplessly wringing our hands and griping. This is do-able!!
