The suspect, Brandon Oneal Blakeney has been charged with murder and is the Mecklenburg County Jail.
Freedom Division officers responded to the residence in reference to a check the welfare call for service. Upon their arrival, they were greeted by the suspect, who allowed the officers in to look for the victim. While conducting a search of the residence, the victim was located deceased. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning.
Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective. Detective Boulware is the lead detective assigned to this case. In addition, you may call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

Cathy was a wonderful person. Their domestic problems have been nearly continuous since their marriage.He wanted Cathy to take care of him and he didn't want to be a husband. RIP Cathy - you are loved!

This has been something that hasn't left my mind ...I was just resenty requanted with Cathy a few days before her death ..IV haven't seen and herd from her in 16 years......it was so nice to get to talk to her...but the sad thing is she opend up to me about how much she was not happy and in fear of her life from this loser....a friend and I wanted to take her away from all her misery ...and pain........but just a few days late...it haunts my friend and I.........rest in peice Cathy sorry we couldn't get there in time.....

Why havent they released details someone mentioned him poisoning her....either way its f'd up! Every bodys saying he didnt do it but hell he sat in the house with the body for god knows how long and didnt call for help?!?! No pity party for that s.ob..........RIP CATHEY
