ALBEMARLE, N.C. — A home invasion at gunpoint in University City became a car theft that led to a four county crime spree.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, round 9 p.m. last night, a victim’s car was stolen during a home invasion.

Then around 3 a.m. a call came in about a home invasion and assault in the Midland area of Cabarrus County.  Stanly County Sheriff’s Office came in to assist.  Officers with the K9 Unit came in and searched for suspects but no one was found.

Around 7 a.m. police tell us that another victim was carjacked at gunpoint in the Midland area.  A short time later a vehicle matching the description of the recently stolen car was spotted over in Stanly County.  Stanly County Deputies tried to pull the car over but the two suspects inside the car sped away.

Later a deputy spotted a man in an open field just south of Albemarle near the Stanly County Fairgrounds.  The deputy attempted to make contact with the man and suddenly the suspect fired a handgun.  He stole a car and was fleeing the scene with he had a shoot-out with a second deputy.  During this exchange the suspect was shot.  But he took off with the police chasing after him.

STANLY_CHASE_CRASHFinally the suspect crashed the car just inside the Anson County line and he was taken into custody without further incident.

Jarvis Terez Marsh, 30, was transferred to Stanly County Hospital for a gunshot wound.  He’s being held on parole violations, but officials say additional charges will be fourth coming.

The second suspect has managed to elude officers. He was last seen in the area of Stony Gap Road and Highway 52 South in Albemarle. He’s described as a black male wearing a blue button-up shirt and dark pants.
