4 Teens Beat Up Guards, Escaped From Juvenile Detention Center

DALLAS, N.C. juvenile– Four juveniles have been arrested after reportedly beating up three security guards and escaping from a detention center in Dallas.

Police said the four boys — all of whom had prior felony charges — assaulted three guards Tuesday evening around 6:30 p.m.  One guard suffered a broken nose and the other received a gash to the back of the head after one of the boys threw a chair.  Two were taken to the hospital for their injuries, but are expected to recover.

Police quickly set up a perimeter near the detention center on Camp Sertoma Road and were able to catch all four escapees a little after 8 p.m.

Police said the juveniles — ages 13, 15, 16 and 17 and whose names will not be released — were from Gaston, Lincoln, Rowan and Cleveland Counties respectively.

More than 60 officers from five different agencies assisted in searching for the boys.  Additional charges are expected.
