A man turned himself in Wednesday night on animal cruelty charges after being seen pepper-straying a dog through the window of a vehicle at a 7-11 gas station.

Robert Cloud, 50, sprayed pepper spray through a crack in the car’s window on Jan. 13 at 2:15 p.m. at the 7-11 gas station at 12710 S. Tryon St. The dog suffered pain and irritation but no serious injury.

Cloud turned himself in to the office of CMPD’s Steele Creek Division on Westinghouse Boulevard after seeing his picture on the news, according to police.
