Day Care Worker Arrested and Charged in Abuse of 5-Month-Old Girl

Crime Scene YelloA day care worker in Charlotte has been arrested and charged for abusing a 5-month-old girl.

Rebecca Ann Wilt, 45, was a worker at the Easter Seals UCP Children’s Center located on Marsh Road. On May 6, a 5-month-old baby was found seriously injured and unconscious at the day care.

Police investigating the infant’s injuries said evidence and information they obtained led to the identification of Wilt as the suspect. She was arrested without incident on Friday evening.

Wilt has been charged with inflicting serious bodily injury and child abuse and was brought to Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office to be sent to the county jail.

Police said the baby is at Carolinas Medical Center and still in serious condition. No other details on the injuries have been announced as of late Friday.
