Bessemer City Man Charged for Death of Girlfriend From DWI

Corevette-people-1A man from Gaston County who has several past convictions for drunk driving is being charged with second-degree murder after his girlfriend was killed in a crash.

David Taylor, 61, of Bessemer City lost control of his Corvette on June 9 and veered off the road before crashing into an embankment and then a creek. His girlfriend, Kimberly Hardin, 50, died from the crash.

Taylor had been driving while impaired and speeding at the time, police said.

Taylor has had his license revoked and is being charged for driving while impaired and second-degree murder, according to Bessemer City Police Chief Tom Ellis. The warrants will likely be served to Taylor once he is released from a medical rehabilitation center, Ellis said.

Taylor has been convicted for driving while impaired a minimum of four times since 1993.
