Police have arrested two Gaston County men in connection with the shooting of another man in the head early Thursday.
22-year-old Nicolas Justo Cortez of Gastonia is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.
24-year-old Joviniano Cuevas Hernandez of Ranlo was charged with attempted murder.
The victim was Andres Santiago Garcia, 25, who was found unresponsive at 1 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The shooting occurred at an apartment located in the 2600 block of Pembroke Road, according to police.
