Man Accused of Stabbing Arrested in Rock Hill

b89d9823-7548-4578-b6fd-f855aed44127A man who was accused of stabbing another man in the abdomen on Monday has been arrested, according to police.

Authorities arrested and charged 23-year-old Denzel Boozer with possession of a weapon during a violent crime and attempted murder on Wednesday, according to Rock Hill Police Department spokesman Capt. Mark Bollinger. The arrest happened after an anonymous tip was sent to police that Boozer would arrive at a home on Paxton Street that morning.

When Boozer did arrive at the home, police were waiting there. They caught him as he attempted to run into a closet.

The charges stem from him stabbing a man at a Lucky Court home on Monday around 7 p.m. The victim, 51, was seriously injured with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim told officers that Boozer stabbed him after the two got into an argument about Boozer being disrespectful to family at the home of his grandmother. According to the police report, the victim was stabbed in the left side of the stomach and Boozer threatened him with a gun.

On Thursday morning Boozer was held on $62,000 bond, but Bolllinger said he was taken into the custody of the state Department of Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services.

Agency spokesman Peter O’Boyle said they had a warrant for Boozer related to a violation of parole. He had been on probation for throwing bodily fluids on a corrections employee.

At the time, Boozer had been jailed on charges for stalking and marijuana possession, according to O’Boyle.
