A Rock Hill man who stole a metal awning from the Refuge Church of Clover will be sent back to South Carolina for the crime.
James Stephen Wellman, 49, was arrested by Gaston County police on Saturday at a Belmont home owned by a couple with the same last name as him.
The church awning was made of around $200 of metal, the arrest record shows.
Wellman had been given probation for assault on a female in Mecklenburg County in 1997, state records show.
