2 Men Charged With Shooting Into Home

CIC Default Crime ReportTwo men have been charged with shooting into a Kings Mountain home on May 13.

A resident of the home on Shady Grove Road reported catching Jacob Lee Helbig, 18, trying to steal a pellet gun set, jewelry, CDs, and a BB gun. Helbig didn’t get away with any of the times after the homeowner confronted him, police said.

The next day, Helbig retaliated by returning to the home with another man, John Alexander Tutterow, 29, police said. The homeowner reported hearing two shots ring out after Helbig and Tutterow drove by the home, which was hit by at least one of the bullets.

The homeowner identified the two men and they were arrested on Tuesday, police said.

Helbig, of Indiana Avenue in Bessemer City, has been charged with breaking and entering, aiding and abetting the discharge of a firearm into an occupied dwelling, and larceny after breaking and entering. He was jailed and then released on an unsecured bond.

Tutterow, of East Hudson Boulevard in Gastonia, has been charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. He was also jailed and released on an unsecured bond.
