Rock Hill Police Searching for Man Who Shot at Officers

Handgun-stockPolice are searching for the suspect in a shooting involving two Rock Hill police officers on Wednesday, officials said.

On-patrol officers saw a 1991 Nissan driving erratically at Cherry Road and Oakland Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. Rock Hill police spokesman Capt. Mark Bollinger said the officers initiated a traffic stop on Ebenezer Avenue Extension.

After the vehicle was pulled over in an apartment parking lot, the driver fled on foot and police chased him into a yard close by that left him blocked by a fence, according to Bollinger.

The man then shot at least once at the officers and one of them returned fire. The suspect then kept fleeing.

The suspect has been described as a black male who was wearing a light-colored hat, white t-shirt, and blue jeans. He has not yet been identified by investigators.
