Intoxicated Man Assaults Crew Members on Flight

Michael KerrA man has been accused of hitting flight attendants while intoxicated during a flight from Lexington, Ky., to Charlotte on Thursday night.

Michael Kerr, 25, had been served three whiskeys after takeoff on an American Airlines flight, an FBI affidavit shows.

Kerr then walked to the front of the plane and began cursing at crew members, shoving one and kicking another in the leg, according to the affidavit. The plane’s pilot and co-pilot were able to restrain Kerr’s legs using a seat belt strap. He was still kicking when Charlotte-Mecklenburg police got there.

Kerr is facing charges of assault on a female, being intoxicated and disruptive, interfering with the duties of a flight crew or attendant, and communicating threats. His preliminary appearance was set to happen in federal court in Charlotte around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
