Woman Highly Impaired in Gastonia Didn’t Know if it was Daylight

AR-160828218A woman was arrested Sunday in Gastonia after driving so under the influence that she wasn’t aware if it was daytime or nighttime, police said.

Laura Ann Caudell, 44, of South Trenton Street, was involved in a crash around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday on Gaston Avenue near North Firestone Street, arrest reports show.

Police asked Caudell to follow an officer after the wreck but she didn’t listen. She also asked the officer if it was still daylight outside and was unstable when standing, according to arrest reports.

When the incident occurred, Caudell possessed four prescription medications, marijuana,  and drug paraphernalia, police said.

She was charged with possession of marijuana, driving while impaired, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of simple drug possession, and failure to reduce speed, and was held in Gaston County Jail on a $2,500 bond as of Monday morning.
