Police arrested a Gastonia man accused of abusing the young child of his girlfriend.
Darren Kyile Butler, 27, of Henry Avenue, was arrested an charged with one count of misdemeanor child abuse on Friday night.
Reports show the alleged incident happened around 7:45 p.m. at the home the couple shares,
Butler physically injured the child, who was under 16, police said. The child had two cuts next to his right eye, a busted nose, and lashings on his lower back and the back of his right leg that were inflicted by means other than accidental, police said.
Butler is held on $50,000 bond in Gaston County Jail.
