A truck driver was killed on Friday while trying to help the driver who rear-ended his truck on Interstate 85.
The wreck occurred about 2:30 a.m. in Charlotte close to the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
The tractor trailer was hit by a car before both drivers pulled over on the side of the highway. The tractor trailer’s driver was getting out to check on the car of the driver when he was hit by another tractor trailer rig. He died at the scene.
The truck driver’s name has not yet been released.
The car driver and driver of the second truck were taken to Carolinas Medical Center and their conditions are unknown.
