ROCK HILL, S.C.  — A woman wearing only her underwear ran from a Rock Hill hotel room Saturday after her boyfriend tried to keep her confined in their room when he became angry. He was upset that she poured out the liquor they had been drinking, according to police.

At about 10 p.m., police were sent to the Howard Johnson Inn.  There they found Robert Johnston IV, 33.  He told police that his girlfriend “flipped out” and ran outside so he tried to pull her back in so she would not cause a scene, the report states.  He grabbed her wrist and picked her up, putting her back in the room.

The woman told police Johnston got mad at her after she poured out his liquor, the report states.  She said Johnston jumped on top of her while she was in bed and refused to let her get up.  She got free and ran outside only to realize she was still in her underwear.

A witness told officers she saw the woman outside in her underwear and saw Mr. Johnston grab her. The witness’ husband confronted Johnston, leading to an argument, police said.

According to police, Johnston and the woman never lived together and have only been dating for a few months. The woman was taken to Piedmont Medical Center after suffering injuries to her wrist, which contained pins and plates after injuries she received in a previous accident.

Police charged Johnston, of Stanley, N.C., with kidnapping. He is jailed at the York County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
