ROCK HILL, S.C.  — A pregnant Rock Hill mother was arrested Saturday after police say she attacked her boyfriend with a knife and glass while holding a child in her hands because he would not hand over his food stamp card.

Jasmine Lastar Dotray, 22, is charged with criminal domestic violence, resisting police and disorderly conduct after authorities say she also chased two people, fled from officers, hid in the bushes and later had to be restrained at the Rock Hill jail, according to a police report.

Police were called out at about 11:20 a.m. where they found Dotray, upset and panicked, standing outside her apartment saying her boyfriend refused to let her inside, the report states.  Dotray told police she was pregnant and wanted to receive medical treatment.

Police spoke with her boyfriend, Dequarrius McClinton, also 22, who said Dotray scratched his face because he would not give her his food stamp card, the report states.

According to the police, Dotray grabbed a large kitchen knife and began screaming.

According to police, Dotray flung a glass bottle and glass ashtray at McClinton while she was still holding onto their son.

Dotray’s brother and another man managed to grab the boy, but Dotray began chasing them with a knife, according to the police report.

They ran into a car, the report states, but Dotray tried slashing the tires. They drove away, while Dotray tried to get back in the house by climbing through a bedroom window.

McClinton managed to lock the window. Dotray then ripped off the front storm door as police arrived on scene.

As McClinton spoke with officers, Dotray kept yelling and interrupting, the police report states. When EMS arrived to treat Dotray because of her pregnancy, she ran from the scene.

An officer found her hiding in bushes and took her back to the house.  When she learned she would be arrested, Dotray ran again, the report states. Police caught her and put her in a patrol vehicle.  She began smashing her head against the window and kicked the car door.

Once at jail, Dotray fought against officers until she was placed in a restraint chair, the report states.  She received a $1,092 bond for the resisting police citation, but was taken to the York County Detention Center, where she was being held Monday on a $15,000 bond.
