Arrest Made in West Charlotte Shooting That Left A Man Dead

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police have made an arrest this morning for a shooting that left a man dead in his home in northwest Charlotte Friday.

21-year-old Jacoby Delano Chambers was located and arrested without incident.  He was taken over to headquarters where he is currently being questioned by police.

Police say there might be two other suspects still on the loose. Police haven’t released a motive or said whether the men knew each other.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said 42-year-old Davis Wayne Walthall was shot and killed around 5 a.m. Friday morning off of Maribel Avenue near Beatties Ford Road.

Police said three suspects barged into Walthall’s home and an altercation occurred. During the incident Mr. Walthall was shot.  The three suspects then fled the scene.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.

Mr. Chambers will be transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.  No word yet on charges he may be facing.
