Autopsy Shows Student From Cornelius Died of Suicide

DemitriAllisonAccording to the N.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, a student at Elon University who is from Cornelius committed suicide at a UNC-Chapel Hill residence hall in November by jumping off a balcony.

The man was 21-year-old Demitri Allison.

A report from the medical examiner’s office shows 21-year-old Demitri Allison mentioned his intention to jump in a note to friends and on his cell phone to family. He also spoke to his girlfriend, who had been in the same building on the opposite side, before jumping, the report shows.

Allison was seen jumping from the 10-floor Morrison Residence Hall building and falling 100 feet, according to the report. His cause of death was “multiple blunt force injuries.”

The building was located on the south campus of UNC-Chapel Hill.

Allison’s friends, family, and teammates had asked police to search for him after he left the campus of Elon University because they were concerned about him, according to Elon’s vice president for student life Smith Jackson.

Allison had previously been an all-state receiver in Huntersville at SouthLake Christian Academy. He was a management major and junior at Elon University.
