Babysitter Charged With Child Abuse After Toddler Sustained Severe Burns

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – A Kannapolis woman has been arrested after police say she severely burned a two-year-old child who she was babysitting.

According to police, officers were called to Carolinas Medical Center-Kannapolis last Wednesday to the report of a young girl with severe burns.

Officers learned that the two-year-old sustained the burns while at a home on Northside Street in Kannapolis.

Twenty-one-year-old Kaprisha Charnelle Bell was babysitting the young girl at the time she was burned, according to the police report.

The young girl was transported to Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem for additional treatment and care of her injuries.

Bell was arrested in Concord and charged with Felony Child Abuse Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury.

She is being held in the Cabarrus County Jail.
