Big Brothers Big Sisters provides different mentoring opportunities by pairing children with adult volunteers. According to the website for the organization, the requirements to become a mentor include reference and background checks and an interview.

CEO of the organization’s Charlotte branch Karen Calder said mentoring support staff communicate with the children, families, and volunteers regularly and are trained to report to authorities any exploitation of abuse.
