Boy, 3 In Critical Condition After Getting Locked In Hot Car

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. — A 3-year-old boy was taken to a hospital after being found in a car, according to Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said it appears the child left the home without the knowledge of his mother and was playing in the car with his dog when he became trapped.

The child was found in the car by his mother who then contacted 911.

Deputies arrived around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at 2390 Walnut Road in Lancaster.

EMS was already on scene and treating the child when deputies arrived.

The 3-year-old boy was taken to a hospital and remains in critical condition suffering from heat stroke.

The dog was found dead inside the car.

Criminal investigators and the Department of Social Services began an investigation into the circumstances.
