Charlotte Airport Passenger Found with Loaded Gun in Carry-on

guns ATL, CLT, DALA passenger at Charlotte Douglas International Airport was found with a loaded handgun in their carry-on Sunday.

Transportation Security Administration found the .40 caliber firearm. It is unclear if the passenger received a fine or was arrested.

The TSA website’s weekly blog says the gun is just one of the 44 that have been found at United States airports in carry-on luggage this week, and 36 of those contained eight loaded rounds.

It’s legal for passengers to have guns in checked baggage, but only if they have declared the firearm to the airline, according to TSA.

The fine for carrying a weapon in a carry-on can be as much as $7,500, TSA said.

During the same week, agents found a prohibited knife in the carry-on of another passenger.
