Charlotte Couple’s Lost Engagement Ring a Possible Theft

engagmentringcrop_1484590274498_7692253_ver1.0A Charlotte couple is devastated after the loss of their engagement ring. Police are now saying that it is likely the ring was stolen.

The $5,000 ring was the result of an enormous amount of work and planning on the part of Daniel Fry. Fry says that he met his girlfriend, Lauren Williams, shortly after his return from the marines. Fry had been through two deployments and was struggling emotionally, and he says that Williams saved him.

Fry began saving money from his job as a welder, and bit by bit raised enough to buy the beautiful 2.3 carat diamond ring. After purchasing it, he planned to take Williams to the Biltmore to propose.

The last that Fry remembers seeing the ring was on the bus that would take them to the gates of the Biltmore. He had taken the ring out to show a friend, and then put it back in his pocket. When he checked his pocket twenty minutes later, the ring was no longer there.

Williams thinks that the ring was lost either on the bus, on the ground floor of the Biltmore, or perhaps in the bathroom. Police think its possible that the ring was stolen either from Fry’s pocket, or from the ground after it was dropped.

The couple is desperate to find the ring. They are offering a $1,000 reward for the return of the ring and say that they will not press any charges.
