Charlotte-Mecklenburg School officials said an Ardrey Kell High School student was charged on Tuesday after they brought a handgun into school.
Parents were sent a message about the investigation into the south Charlotte school incident to keep them informed about what was happening.
According to the message, the gun was confiscated from the student and they are being charged with possession of a handgun on school grounds. The student will also be discipline along with the school’s code of conduct, the message said.
The name and age of the student haven’t been released and no further information has been given by officials.
