Charlotte Woman and Man Found After Attempted Suicide and Murder

police tapeCharlotte-Mecklenburg police said they discovered a woman dead and man with self-inflicted stab wounds in a Charlotte home on Sunday.

It seems the incident was a murder with attempted suicide, police said.

Officers received a call reporting child neglect at a house east of McAlpine Park in the 8300 block of Carter Creek Drive about 1 p.m., according to police in a news release.

Upon arrival, police found a woman dead in the house and a man with apparent self-inflicted wounds from a knife, the released said. The man was taken for treatment of life-threatening injuries to Carolinas Medical Center.

Neither person has been identified by police, and it has not been said how the woman died or what led to the incident.

Detectives who were looking for witnesses in the neighborhood said the investigation is still in the early stages.

The woman and man were related, according to police. The child whom the call was original made about was in a different location with family members at the time of the attack, police said.
