Cherryville Man Stripped Naked in Front of Police

AR-160729063A man was charged with indecent exposure while trying to prove he was innocent in connection with other crimes, police said.

Cory Jonathan Degree, 27, of South Jacob Street, Cherryville has been charged with indecent exposure, resisting a public officer, and misdemeanor larceny, each a misdemeanor.

Police were called on Monday at 9:10 p.m. to the Cherrywood Apartments when Degree was accused of stealing $100 from the purse of a neighbor.

Degree denied stealing the money and police said he then stripped down naked to show officers he didn’t have the cash in any of his pockets or places on his body, Capt. Cam Jenks with Cherryville Police said.

Police said they then found the cash under a mat where Degree had been sitting before the strip. They tried to arrest Degree and he pulled away from them.

Degree has been convicted in the past of felonious restraint, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, breaking and entering, communicating threats, DWI, larceny, and drug possession.
