CMPD Investigating Stabbing on Dove Tree Lane

UPDATE: Homicide Unit Detectives have charged the suspect, Rudicendo Duarte, for the murder of Mr. Zamora. The stabbing was precipitated by a verbal disagreement between two separate groups that led to a physical altercation. The physical altercation led to a fight between all subjects involved (approx. six individuals).

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit and ADW Unit are conducting an investigation into a homicide which occurred in the parking lot area of 6223 Dove Tree Lane in the North Tryon Division. The call for service came in at 1:42 a.m., on Saturday, June 18, 2011. The victim has been identified as Mario Rocha Zamora.  

North Tryon Division officers responded to a 911 call in reference to two subjects who had been stabbed in the parking lot of the Woodland Hollow Apartments. When responding officers arrived on scene, they located two male subjects who had been stabbed.

Mario Zamora was pronounced deceased on scene by Medic; The victim who received the non-life threatening injury, Edwin Garcia, was transported to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Multiple witnesses have been transported to police headquarters to be interviewed. A small gray car was seen leaving the scene, occupied by at least one Hispanic male.
