Community’s Help Leads To Man’s Arrest

A Charlotte man was arrested Friday after the community provided the police with tips on the man’s drug activity. Michael Cloud, 30, was arrested after police conducted a search warrant at his home and found stolen weapons and drugs.

This investigation started back on December 9 when officers received a call about multiple shots being fired on Ballina Way. A description of the man was released but police were never able to locate the man. The next day, detectives with the Vice and Narcotics Until received a complaint from the community about drug activity and weapons at the same home. Officers began their investigation and were able to confirm that there were illegal narcotics being sold at the home.

This past Friday, December 14, police, with the assistance of the Firearms Unit, conducted a search warrant. Cloud was inside the home, along with five guns, including an assault rifle. Three of the five weapons were reported stolen. Police also seized about 476 grams of cocaine and $4,725 in cash.

Cloud is being charged with three counts of possession of a stolen firearm, trafficking cocaine, maintaining dwelling to sell controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, and possession of firearm by a felon.
