CONCORD, N.C. — The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a convicted sex offender who they say cut off his electronic monitoring device and went into hiding following a search of his home in which deputies found child pornography images.

Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Deputies say 43-year-old James Brian Webb was last seen on Monday at his home while officers conducted a search of his residence.

During the search of Webb’s home, deputies reported finding Webb to be in possession of child pornography.

Webb, a convicted sex offender, was under GPS tracking as a result of his latest conviction, but removed the device while in the town of Vale in Lincoln County at 7:15 Monday night.

Authorities say Webb may be driving a gray 2006 Scion with NC tags BJT-9681.

Webb was convicted of felony sex offenses in Ashe and Johnston Counties in 2003, and at that time became a registered sex offender. This past January, Webb was convicted of being a sex offender on school grounds, and was then placed on supervised probation.

If you have any information on Webb’s whereabouts, please contact the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office immediately at (704) 920-3136 or (704) 920-3000.
