CPCC North Campus, Lake Norman Charter School On Lockdown

lockdownHUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – A campus of Central Piedmont Community College and Lake Norman Charter schools are locked down after reports of a gun on the college campus.

According to CPCC officials, the north campus – CPCC Merancas-  was placed on lockdown on Wednesday morning. CPCC Merancas is located off Verhoeff Drive in Huntersville, near Interstate 77, exit 23.

According to Huntersville Police, a student was in the parking lot on campus Wednesday morning and reported seeing two white males getting out of a tan Dodge Stratus armed with guns.

The student reported the sighting to campus officials and police were notified.

According to CPCC’s Merancas Campus’ Facebook page, the campus is currently asking people to stay where they are.

The post says Huntersville Police are in the vicinity near the campus, searching for a potential suspect.

They ask that all students prevent coming to campus until further notice.

So far police have not been able to locate either of the men described or the tan Dodge Stratus on campus.

CPCC-Merancas and the Lake Norman Charter Schools, which are located near the campus, are on lockdown as a precaution.

The Merancas Campus is home of the college’s Public Safety and Transportation System programs.
