Drive-Thru Rage

Jennifer Betterly

LARGO, FL – Police say a Florida woman accused of ramming another car in a fast-food restaurant’s drive-thru lane was upset about another woman’s slow ordering.

Largo police said Jennifer Lynn Betterly, 24, rammed her Ford Focus into the vehicle in front of her at the KFC/Taco Bell drive-thru Saturday because she was angry about how long it was taking the woman in front of her to place an order.

Betterly was arrested about an hour later and police found she had been driving on a suspended license and was in possession of a single pill of the prescription sleep drug Ambien. She was unable to prove the pill had been prescribed to her, police said.

Betterly was charged with felony counts of aggravated battery and possession of a controlled substance. She was also charged with driving with a suspended license, reckless driving and leaving the scene of a crash.

Jensen is facing multiple charges, including burglary and throwing a deadly missile into a building. He reportedly does not have an attorney listed in jail records.

On’t Cross The Typo Police

Leonard Burdek

Leonard Burdek

SALEM, OR – An Oregon man threatened to blow up a state building over a misspelled sign, according to police.

Police said Leonard Burdek, 50, placed a pressure cooker with wires on the counter in front of the receptionist for the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission.  He said the agency’s sign was missing a ‘d.’  (And he was actually right.)teacher standards

Burdek tried to blow up the sign, but the bomb failed to detonate.  Burdek reportedly ranted to the receptionist that our educational system is so bad he couldn’t understand the error-laden bomb-making instructions on the Internet, which is why his bomb didn’t detonate.

Burdek was charged with for disorderly conduct.  Police said the pressure cooker was not a real bomb.

Editor’s Note:  We do not condone making fake bombs and yelling at people over misspellings, but as a member of the “Typo Police Force myself”, I can see why this sign would make a guy go crazy.  You would think that the State of Oregon’s Teacher Standards AND Practices Commission people would proof-read a giant sign before putting it in front of their building.  While we at Crime in Charlotte .com disagree with Mr. Burdek’s means of getting his point across, I personally appreciate his being willing to take that stand!
