GASTONIA, N.C. – Surveillance footage from First National Bank led Gastonia police to a Dallas man who robbed the bank two weeks ago.

Gastonia police say Dallas man, Anthony Steven Hedgepath, 28, walked into the New Hope Road bank around noon on April 17.

The surveillance tape shows a man showing the bank teller a gun and putting a bag on the counter.   He said to the teller, “I need you to put the money in the bag,” according to the arrest warrant affidavit.

The bank robber wore sunglasses and a baseball cap and had a beard with no mustache, police said.

More surveillance footage revealed that the man left in a car that was later identified as Mr. Hedgepath’s vehicle, according to the warrant affidavit.

Inside the car police found sunglasses that matched ones seen in the recording, the warrant states.

Some of Hedgepath’s family watched the surveillance footage and told police that it was indeed him on the screen, according to the warrant.

Mr. Hedgepath was arrested Sunday and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.  He remained in jail Sunday evening on a $100,000 secured bond.

Hedgepath will have a first appearance in court this morning.
