Domestic Assault Sends Woman To Hospital; Man On The Run

STATESVILLE, N.C. – A man wanted on kidnapping and assault charges remains at large following an incident Monday night.

It happened at the victim’s house in the 300 block of South Race Street.

The victim called 911 herself. She told police her boyfriend, 18-year-old Martevis Simpson, tied her up, punched her several times and hit her with various household objects.

The woman freed herself to make the call. Simpson allegedly caught her again though, and forced her back into the house. He fled before officers arrived.

The woman was treated at a local hospital.

Simpson is wanted for first-degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of assault on a female.
